For those mountain bike newbies who may be reading this, the Trans-Rockies has been termed “The Hardest Mountain Bike Race in North America”. Not surprising when you learn that the one week epic adventure covers almost 600km of high altitude trails with roughly 12,000 metres of climbing in the process. The Trans-Rockies is the brainchild of Chester Fabricius and Heinrich Albrecht, two legends in the mountain biking world. Having taken their World Cup Race experiences they created an incredible event in the Canadian Rockies, which to this day cannot be beaten for endurance and stunning unspoilt wilderness.

  I am one of these people who really admires anyone who can take on a challenge; physical, mental or otherwise. Being someone who unfortunatley is a bit challenged in the sporting department (following years of spectacularly coming last at every sportsday as a child), the opportunity to sponsor Matthew Kitchin and James Moyle was a no brainer. "It's not the winning but the taking part" I hear you cry, and yes that is true. To lend more than a helping hand financially, Alkimi is taking part...in sorts. The Alkimi team will not only provide sponsorship for our adventorous duo, but we will also be the support crew for their journey throughout the Rockies.

The team at Matrix know a thing or two about endurance as they have built their organisation around exploring mineral and metal deposits in some of the worlds remotest regions. Perhaps rather unfortunatley for Matt and James they got the marketing crowd as their support crew, rather than the toughened survival experts. On the upside we are well versed in all camp cookery, we print cycle shirts, take great photos and just to be on the safe side have bear spray and hunters soap at the ready!
